Since the inauguration of the Twinning, the Rugby Club has always played a significantly major role in the festivities, with a number of members who were part of the initial delegation that went to Royan in 1959, and are still twinning to the present day.
Over the years many close friendships have been formed, with twinners spending holidays together, God Parents to one anothers children, meeting up at International Rugby matches, and joining their respective twinning partners for important occasions….

golfGolf – Visit our Gallery | The two courses used in Gosport are: Stokes Bay and Lee-on-the-Solent Golf Club

Councillor Richard Dickson restarted the golf in 2006 and despite difficulty finding other golfers from Gosport willing to commit to the Twinning a competition has taken place each year. In 2007 Gosport entertained 7 golfers from Royan. Since then only a few golfers from Gosport and Royan have taken part but nevertheless everyone thoroughly enjoyed the occasion.
Anyone interested in joining the Gosport golfing delegation should contact Councillor Richard Dickson at Gosport Town Hall.

The Table Tennis team first became involved with the twinning in 1970 under the guidance of Mr Les Vote (sadly died 19th March 2011) a long time supporter of the sport in Gosport. He and two other players made up the first team to challenge Royan. From that initial encounter a great friendship between our respective groups evolved year on year being as strong today as ever…
